The Reverend Don Beyers
The Reverend Don Beyers comes to Christ Church after a diverse career history as religious educator, high school and university faculty member, and a few years in publishing. Originally from the United States, Don immigrated to Canada a few years ago and became a Canadian citizen in January 2016. After several years of prayerful discernment, he entered the formation process for priestly ministry in the Anglican Church of Canada. He was ordained May 1, 2016 by Archbishop Colin Johnson at St. James Cathedral, Toronto.
Don’s passion for learning and teaching developed at a young age. After completing an undergraduate degree in German Literature and Philosophy, he studied theology and earned a Masters degree in Systematic Theology. His love for theology and spirituality inspired him to share with others the joy of discerning the work of God in all things.
Baptised and raised Roman Catholic, Don initially discerned a vocation to priesthood. However, a brief teaching experience inspired him to teach for a few years. As his journey of faith developed, he began to worship in the Episcopal Church in the United States. Drawn by the rich and diverse spiritual and theological tradition, Don’s faith journey led him to the Anglican Communion.
Aside from reading, Don enjoys writing, running, biking, travelling, and sharing conversations with friends and family. Among his greatest personal accomplishments are the two times he ran the Twin Cities Marathon.
Don begins his ministry at Christ Church as an assistant curate after serving as a pastoral assistant at Grace Church-on-the-Hill, Toronto. His home parish is St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Toronto.
